A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS - courtesy of member, Shelly Albaugh.

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely
to be painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You
have your work, your friends, your entertainments, but I have only you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your
voice when speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.
7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you,
and yet, I choose not to.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if
something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I
have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.
9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.
10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you
can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for
me if you are there, because I love you so.

~Take a moment today to thank God for your pets. Enjoy and take good care of
them. Life would be a much duller, less joyful experience without God's
critters~

"A Dog's Plea" by - A Dog Lover

Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more grateful than the loving heart of me.

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I might lick your hand between blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me learn.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when the sound of your footsteps falls upon my waiting ear.

Please take me inside when it is cold and wet, for I am a domesteicated animal, no longer accustomed to bitter elements. I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.

Feed me clean food that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.

And, my friend, when I am very old and I no longer enjoy good health, hearing and sight, do not make heroic efforts to keep me going. I am not having any fun. Please see to it that my life is taken gently. I shall leave this earth knowing with the last breath I draw, that my fate was always safest in your hands~~~~

A dog sits waiting in the cold autumn sun

To failthful to leave, to frightened to run.

He's been there for days now with nothing to do,

but sit by the road, waiting for you.

He can't understand why you left him that day;

He thought you and he were stopping to play.

He's sure you'll come back, and that's why he stays

How long can he suffer? How many more days?

His legs have grown weak, his throat parched and dry,

He's sick now from hunger and falls, with a sigh.

He lays down his head and closes his eyes,

I wish you could see how a waiting dog dies.

Alas, this unfortunate and tragic event still happens every day. Time upon time when an animal is dumped, they stay where they were left, waiting for their master to come back for them. If we could get more funds to buy land and build a shelter for our rural area, we know we could save many from this tragic and despicable way for some animals to die.

Especially those animals that are suffering.

For all that are overworked and underfed and cruely treated.

For any that are lost or deserted or frightened;

that they thus may share the blessing of the merciful.
